Diamonds boss Peaks seeking a quick fix to avoid a '˜crisis'

Diamonds’ Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central promotion hopes suffered another big blow as they slumped to a fourth defeat in a row as Uxbridge claimed a 2-1 victory at the Dog & Duck.

Having fallen behind early in the second half, Elliot Sandy brought Diamonds level with his first goal for the club. But disaster struck in stoppage-time when Wayne Carter headed home a dramatic winner for the visitors.

Diamonds dropped to fifth in the table as a result of the defeat but remain just six points behind leaders Kings Langley, although they now have Aylesbury breathing down their necks in the race to secure a play-off place.

Boss Peaks remains confident his team can turn their fortunes around but he knows it must happen quickly if they are to keep their hopes alive.

“Obvious I am very disappointed,” he said.

“To get nothing from the game is not what we wanted or what we played for.

“We looked like getting a point, which would have been a building block but we fell for the sucker-punch in the last minute and they have nicked it.

“We got back to 1-1 and at that stage there looked like being only one winner. They were hanging on and wasting time.

“There were a few half-chances and we aren’t getting the rub of the green. But we have to turn it round, it’s up to us to do that.

“It will be a crisis if we don’t sort it out and get back to picking some points up sooner rather than later.

“We have to keep doing the same things we have done for three-quarters of this season and the last couple of year and that’s to be organised and work hard. And if we do that, I am confident we will turn it around.”

Diamonds return to action with a double-header over the Easter weekend as they host Northwood, who are six points behind them, on Saturday before heading to Arlesey Town a week tomorrow (Monday).
