The Steelmen are battling for survival in the Vanarama National League North and remain second-from-bottom, a point adrift of safety following last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Chorley.

Worcester, who play their home matches at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium, sit just three points clear of Wright’s men.

The Corby boss knows the pressure is on him and his team to start producing wins if they are to avoid the drop this season.

And Wright is keen for his players to start proving their critics wrong.

“I know people have criticised me for being too loyal to players they don’t believe are good enough at this level,” the Steelmen manager said.

“I am happy to take the criticism but it’s up to us to go and work as a group to prove that we can compete in this league.

“But, at the same time, talk is cheap. I think we will be alright but at the moment we aren’t. We need to win some matches.

“I think Worcester has turned into a must-win game for us, it’s a six-pointer. We got beaten 3-0 at home by them, they are three points ahead of us and we owe them one.

“We haven’t picked up enough good results against teams around us and that has obviously got to change quickly.

“As I have said before, teams being three or four points ahead of you is okay. It can be clawed back.

“But once that turns into seven or 10 points then you are talking about winning four matches just to make up the ground on them.

“It’s a huge game this weekend and then we bring it home against Gainsborough next Saturday. It’s a crucial spell for us.”
