Corby boss Wright expecting an open game when FC United come to town

The Steelmen go into the clash on the back of a 3-2 home loss to Alfreton Town last weekend, which has left them on the brink of relegation from the Vanarama National League North.

Despite flirting with the relegation zone for a number of weeks, FC United arrive having all-but sealed their place in the division for another season after they, like Corby, were promoted during the last campaign.

And Wright believes that fact alone will make for another open game.

“To be honest, we are playing them at the wrong time,” Wright said.

“Three or four weeks ago they weren’t in the best situation themselves but they have sorted out their form and they come here knowing they are pretty much safe.

“They are an attacking team and they score lots of goals and they will be playing with that extra bit of freedom.

“But we were involved in a real end-to-end game last Saturday and we will be quite happy to do that again this week.

“Despite the result, I am sure our fans went away having had their money’s worth and I would expect it to be the same again this weekend.”

The Steelmen manager has a clean bill of health as far as his squad is concerned for Saturday’s clash with no injury doubts to report.

“Everyone is fit,” he added.

“The only doubt we had going into the Alfreton game was Taylor McKenzie with his hamstring but he came through it and I thought he was very good.”
