Big crowd on hand to remember Wanderers fan Jay

A season's best crowd in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League was on hand for an emotional afternoon at Latimer Park.

Burton Park Wanderers hosted a memorial day for young supporter Jay Brewer who sadly passed away after a long battle with illness last month.

A crowd of 371 were on hand to celebrate Jay’s life but, on the pitch, it was Raunds Town who triumphed by a 3-1 scoreline.

All the goals came in the second half with Jamie Russell opening the scoring before Nat Gosnall-Tyler doubled the advantage.

Tom Bird gave Wanderers hope with 15 minutes to go but Nick Harrison struck to secure the points for the Shopmates.

Tommy Berwick scored on his debut as Stewarts & Lloyds closed the gap on second-placed ON Chenecks with a 3-1 success at Buckingham Town.

Mark Forbes put the Foundrymen in front late in the first half and then Berwick struck to make it 2-0 before David Sheridan put the result beyond doubt.

Lukasz Filipiak pulled one back for Buckingham but it proved to be only a consolation.

Rushden & Higham United battled back twice to secure a 2-2 draw with local rivals Whitworth at Hayden Road.

Cavell Jarvis gave the Flourmen the lead but Lewis O’Dell levelled for the Lankies 10 minutes before half-time.

Jarvis made it 2-1 to the visitors early in the second half but O’Dell cancelled that out to complete his own brace and secure a point for the home side.

An own-goal from visiting player-manager Arron Parkinson gave Thrapston the lead early in the second half but Aaron King replied for Woodford on the hour.

Irchester Romans suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Blackstones who scored both goals in the second half through Jacob Smitheringale and Addie Staffieri.

Desborough Town picked up an excellent success on the road in the Premier Division as they ran out 3-1 winners at Boston Town.

The hosts pulled a goal back through Simon Ashton soon after the restart but Jason Turner slotted home Desborough’s third just before the hour and that sealed the points.

Wellingborough Town dropped back into the relegation zone after they were beaten 3-0 by Wisbech Town at the Dog & Duck.

Rob Hughes and Billy Smith were on target to give the Fenmen a 2-0 lead at the break and Adam Millson’s penalty with 12 minutes to go wrapped up a convincing win.

Rothwell Corinthians slipped to a second successive defeat as they went down 2-0 to Newport Pagnell at Sergeants Lawn.
