Ian Benjamin is the new manager of Stewarts & Lloyds

The former Northampton Town, Corby Town and Kettering Town striker takes over at Occupation Road after the Foundrymen narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

Benjamin has previously managed at Warboys and, more recently, in the UCL Premier Division with Yaxley.

And he insists his mind was made up over the job at S&L once he had met with chairman John Davies and vice-chairman Tim Broad.

Benjamin said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to manage S&L Corby.

“I went over for a chat with John Davies and Tim Broad not thinking about taking the job but their enthusiasm and honesty won me over straight away and I am looking forward to getting started.

“I will be doing my very best for what I feel is a proper non league football club with people who have their feet on the ground.

“Pre-season is only a few days away and there is a lot of work to do but I know that I am going to get the support that I need at this football club.”
