Tommy Wright believes Jamie Anton is another player who will have 'plenty to prove' after his return to Corby Town was confirmed.

The left-sided defender, who can operate as a full-back or centre-half, was part of the Steelmen squad that won the Southern League Premier Division title just over a year ago.

He left Steel Park last summer and joined St Neots Town but is now back as Corby gear up for the new surroundings of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Manager Wright has admitted he perhaps made a mistake in letting Anton leave this time last year.

But he expects him to return and show what the boss and the fans missed last season.

“Jamie has had that experience of winning the Southern League title with us,” Wright said.

“I had a good chat with him and sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say you got it wrong and I probably shouldn’t have let him go last summer.

“I think he, like Brad Lee Gascoigne and Andre Johnson, has got plenty to prove and I hope they come back and prove a point to me and themselves.

“Jamie is well schooled from his time at Leicester, he’s a ball playing centre-half and he’s still young.

“He said all the right things when I spoke to him, he wants to be here and I think he was a popular figure with the supporters. I am sure he will come back and do well for us.”
