Northampton saw victory stolen from their grasp late on at Kingsholm as Billy Twelvetrees landed a penalty with the final kick of the game to secure a 26-24 win for Gloucester.

Saints will look to bounce back in the best way possible when a Sharks team who have shown their bite in the opening three Premiership games, winning twice, come to town.

And Foden, who continues to feel upbeat despite the Gloucester furore, said: “We’ll take a lot of positives that we went there - Gloucester have been talked up as one of the top four sides this year - and pushed them right to the very end and took a point from the game.

“We’ve won one at home, one away, got a bonus point in the first game, beat Quins, who were a top four side last year, away from home so we’ll take a lot from these games.

“Obviously we didn’t play our best rugby on Saturday, but some things in the game are out of your hands and we’ll take the positives.

“We’ll look to work on things, look to work on the kick receipts and exiting our half, but we’ll try to stay positive and look to put in a big performance against Sale.”
