Fly-half Myler delight as Saints end major trophy drought
The ever-impressive fly-half landed seven of his eight kicks at goal, racking up a total of 20 points as Jim Mallinder’s men beat Bath 30-16 in the European final.
Myler was the star of the show, as he had been back in 2009, when he kicked all Saints’ points in a 15-3 final win against Bourgoin at The Stoop.

Hide AdAnd the 29-year-old admitted the latest success was up there with the first one five years ago.
“It’s equally as good,” said Myler. “I’ve got fond memories of that year (2009).
“It was our first trophy as a club at the top level since Jim (Mallinder) and Dorian (West) took over and I’ve got fond memories of that.
“We very much wanted to replicate that and I’m over the moon that we’ve done it.”

Hide AdMyler outshone opposite number George Ford on Friday night, with the Bath kicker impressing during the first 38 minutes, but seeing his performance unravel.
Ford missed three successive shots at goal as his team faded, and Myler had some sympathy for his England team-mate.
“I didn’t catch him after the game,” said Myler,” I was dragged off to do an interview.
“I’m sure I’ll see him at some point and say well played and we’ll see each other soon.

Hide Ad“He’s obviously a very good player and he was doing everything he could to put his team in the right places during that first half.
“But I was more concerned with my performance and how I could influence my team.
“We regrouped at half-time and I’m proud of the lads that we stuck together, stuck to the plan and came out victors.”
