Edinburgh's eyeing a treble

Justin Edinburgh is confident of completing a hat-trick of deals at Rushden & Diamonds.

They have signed striker Michael Gash (pictured) on loan from York City until the end of the season.

Edinburgh – who expects to finalise his long-term contract next week – revealed that advanced talks with a midfielder should allow him to join the squad for the Blue Square Bet Premier trip to Luton Town tomorrow.

He hopes to bring in another defender next week – although on-loan forward Rene Howe could make his final appearance for Diamonds in the derby date at Kenilworth Road.

Edinburgh admitted: "I'm looking to bring three in.

"I'm on the phone to a lot of managers trying to pursue deals which would let us have more quality players coming here.

"They have got to be better than what we already have and the right kind of player because of the way we work.

"There is a good spirit within the group and I'm going about my business thoroughly to try to improve our squad.

"Hopefully over the next few days we can secure a couple of signatures which would give us a push to keep ourselves around the play-off positions.

"Negotiations with a midfielder have got to an advanced stage. I'm also trying to get a defender as soon as possible.

"There is every chance that we will get the paperwork done in time for tomorrow's game on one of those deals."

However the prospects of keeping Howe until the end of the season could

be hampered by interest from Football League clubs in taking him from Peterborough United.

Edinburgh added: "He is still with us tomorrow but the discussions have not been as smooth as we would have liked.

"If a League club comes in then we can't stand in his way. So it's a case of being a little bit more patient."

Meanwhile left-back Kurt Robinson has joined Conference South side Chelmsford City on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Striker Tim Sills has returned to Stevenage at the end of his temporary stay at Nene Park.

Teenage forward Nabil Shariff has extended his loan spell at Nuneaton Town who play at Corby Town tomorrow in the Blue Square Bet North.
