Dowson: I’d love to stay at Saints

Phil Dowson says he would love to extend his stay at Saints.

The 33-year-old flanker’s current deal expires this summer, but he is hoping to remain at Franklin’s Gardens.

Dowson has become a hugely popular figure at Saints since joining from Newcastle Falcons in the summer of 2009.

He has made 123 appearances, during which time he has captained the club to LV= Cup glory and played a large part in last season’s Aviva Premiership and Amlin Challenge Cup successes.

“My contract’s up in the summer, Dowson confirmed. “I’d love to stay, but it depends on all sorts of factors at the club.

“I’m still sorting it out and hopefully we’ll come up with a decent scenario.”
