Dickson admits he is one of the ‘lucky 23’ to claim final glory

Lee Dickson admits the Saints players who got to play a part in the Premiership final success were the lucky ones.

All 23 members of the matchday squad were utilised as Jim Mallinder’s men fought to the last to claim a dramatic 24-20 extra-time win against spirited Saracens.

Dickson came off the bench to up the tempo, with Saints’ replacements once again adding plenty to the mix.

And the scrum-half knows it has been a huge squad effort that has brought Amlin Challenge Cup and Premiership glory back to Northampton.

“We have the big one now, and that is the main thing for this club as we have not had it before,” said Dickson.

“You saw on Saturday how amazing the support was, and just getting off that team bus it was such a great feeling.

“We knew it was going to be our day.

“The boys were phenomenal out there from one to 40, as it includes all the people that didn’t get on the pitch, the ones that were on the sidelines and supporting.

“It is such a team effort, and has been throughout the season.

“So many players have played in Premiership games, and the lucky 23 that were on that pitch on Saturday have taken it home for everybody.”
