The limited overs captain withdrew from the side to take on Lancashire in the County Championship this week after suffering back spasms following the defeat to Somerset on Sunday.

But with a week of treatment under his belt, Wakely doesn’t think there will be any danger of him having to sit out the weekend’s clash.

He said: “I’m 99 per cent sure that I’ll be fit for the Glamorgan game.

“I couldn’t touch my knees yesterday (Tuesday) but I’m now back to nearly full movement and with a bit more physion I’ll be alright.”

And Wakely admitted that the injury came about after a few weeks off minor back issues.

He added: “It’s been a bit ongoing for about a month.

“I felt it after Friday night’s game and then we had four hours on the bus down to Taunton and four hours back.

“Diving round in the field aggravated it and I woke up on Monday morning with spasms down the right side of my back.

“But I’ve had a scan and that showed there was no real damage to the discs so ther’s nothing to really worry about.”
