The Foxes travel to the County Ground for a Royal London One-Day Cup fixture (start time 11am).

Northants won their most recent game in the competition, beating Lancashire Lightning by 76 runs on Wednesday.

But they were to suffer an agonising three-wicket NatWest T20 Blast defeat at Worcestershire Rapids two days later.

And Ripley recognises the importance of getting back on track, with today’s clash and Tuesday’s trip to Yorkshire Vikings being the Steelbacks’ last games in the 50-over competition until July 24.

“It would be nice to win at least one of those games to keep ourselves alive for when we come back to the competition later in the summer,” Ripley said.

“Maybe Rory (Kleinveldt, who is out for six weeks) and Richard (Levi, who is out until June 26) would be back for that so it would be nice to bag a win.

“If we can win on Sunday, it takes a bit of pressure off us going up to Yorkshire on Tuesday.

“We’ll have a head count and we’ll come out fighting.”
