The Steelbacks currently sit second in the North Group but know a win against Derbyshire Falcons at the County Ground on Sunday is a must if they are to reach the last eight.

Northants could still miss out even if they beat the Falcons, but with a good run rate to their name, Ripley’s side should progress if they can win this weekend.

And the head coach is desperate for his side to deliver again, as they have done in the NatWest T20 Blast, in which they will have a home quarter-final against Middlesex on Tuesday, August 9.

“We’ve played some good cricket in that competition (the One-Day Cup) and we know we need to win, but we’re at home and if we can win that game we’d be particularly unlucky not to get through,” said Ripley, looking ahead to the Derbyshire clash.

“It still is physically possible that if results went right against us we could still go out if we won, but I feel if we win we’re confident we’ll get through.

“It would be great to have another quarter-final to look forward to and the lads are really up for that.”
