Only 17.1 overs were possible at the Swalec Stadium during which time the visitors moved on from their overnight 108-3 to 145-5, for a lead of 11.

On a dank day in the Principality, both Stephen Peters (67) and Rob Newton (39) fell to the medium pace of Jim Allenby as the hosts’ attack made inroads.

Andrew Hall and James Middlebrook will resume the County’s innings on day three.
