Northamptonshire’s hopes of making it three from three in the Natwest t20 Blast were dashed by the poor weather.

No play was possible at Derby’s County Ground as a saturated outfield prevented a ball being bowled after an inspection at 6.30pm by umpires Neil Bainton and Peter Hartley deemed the conditions unsuitable.

Through no fault of their own, the Steelbacks dropped their first points of the competition while their hosts, after two straight defeats, now have a positive number in their points column.

Next up for the Steelbacks is a trip to Worcester to face the newly-named Rapids tomorrow (Friday) evening.
