Northants foiled as rain washes out final day

Mother Nature had the final say in Cardiff as the final day was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Glamorgan were due to resume on 96-4, a deficit of 62, with Jim Allenby (16no) partnering Murray Goodwin (4no) but the forecast rain, which was due to spread from the west throughout the day, prevented any resumption.

It will have left Stephen Peters’ side frustrated as they would have been strong favourites to open the campaign with a convincing victory but they can be satisfied with their efforts and the eight points they earned.

Next up for the County is the visit of Essex in the Championship to the County Ground on Wednesday.
