Willey, who is the club’s vice-captain, received his first England call last month for the ODI against Ireland, claiming his first international wicket before the game was cut short by rain.

Willey obviously impressed, as he has now been named in the 14-man squad selected to take on the Kiwis in five Royal London ODI matches starting next Tuesday at Edgbaston.

Willey told www.northantscricket.com: “I’m obviously delighted to be included in the England one-day squad again.

“The match against Ireland was an unforgettable experience, but we didn’t get to play due to the weather.

“To be given this second opportunity is flattering and I can’t wait to play against the World Cup runners-up and some of the best one-day cricketers in the world.”

Although his England debut was cut short by bad weather, the 25 year-old managed to claim his first ODI wicket for his country in that match and will be looking to impress following a decent start to the season, with the all-rounder boasting a batting average of 79.40 in the County Championship after four matches.
