The Northamptonshire all-rounder was reported by umpires Richard Illingworth and Ismail Dawood for two Level 1 offences in the Yorkshire Bank 40 clash with Warwickshire.

Middlebrook was given out caught off a Chris Wright bouncer at the end of the home side’s innings and visibly demonstrated his irritation at the decision.

The penalty for the breaches of the code - showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action and using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture - are a reprimand for the first offence and three penalty points for the second.

The points will stay on Middlebrook’s record for a period of two years and if nine or more points are accumulated in a two-year period then an automatic suspension will be triggered.
