Keogh aiming to become a player for all seasons

Rob Keogh's development has been rewarded with a two-year contract

The Northamptonshire middle order batsman, who was out of contract in September, signed a new two-year deal last week to become the latest of the younger brigade to commit their immediate future to the club.

And having come of age at the tail end of the last campaign with a handful of eye-catching performances, Keogh has given himself a straightforward target for 2014.

“I want to start in all three formats and I’ll work hard in the winter to try and make sure that happens,” he said.

“I’m very pleased to have signed a new contract and it’s nice to have a bit more security rather than being on another one-year deal but it won’t change the way I approach my cricket.”

And Keogh admitted that he had no intention of moving to ply his trade elsewhere, prefering to continue his lengthy relationship with the County.

He added: “I’ve been at the club since I was 14, it’s the place that I want to play and I didn’t even think about moving.

“I get on well with all the players and the coaches and I want to do well here.”

As for this winter, Keogh is of the mind to stay put rather than venture abroad.

He said: “My main plan is to stay in Northampton and work on my fitness and my game but I might pop out somewhere if the chance comes.

“I’m not entirely sure but I’ll probably be staying at home.”
