The off-season recruit, who was spotted playing league cricket up north, took 4-25 as Warwickshire were defeated by 27 runs in the Friends Life t20 on Friday night.

It continued the promising start the seamer has made to his Northamptonshire career and he says that it’s all down to collective hard work.

He said: “It’s brilliant and it was good teamwork. The team’s good a good spirit and hopefully we can continue with the same spirit and hard work.

“It’s all working nicely. Whenever they ask any bowler they’re delivering and whenever I come on I try my best and I’m happy with how it’s going.”

Next up for the County is a trip to Taunton on Sunday and it’s a clash that Azharullah believes has the making of a good one.

He added: “They’re a good side and we’re not taking anyone lightly and we’ll put up a good fight.

“I’m confident at the moment, the team are going well and hopefully we’ll deliver there.”
