There are a pair of important fixtures scheduled for this weekend in the Hevey Building Supplies NCL.
In the Premier Division, leaders Peterborough host second-place Northampton Saints while in Division One, top side Oundle are at home to Desborough who currently occupy the runners-up spot.
At Bretton Gate, Saints need to claim a victory to keep their title chances alive.
Trailing by 47 points with five games remaining, the visitors will put a cat among the pigeons if they end Peterborough’s unbeaten home record and their captain, Chris Park, intends to do just that.
He said: “It’s all to play for still and if we were to win on Saturday there would be a lot of pressure back on Peterborough.”
The hosts could be forgiven for trying to protect their advantage, but skipper Ajaz Akhtar doesn’t want to go down that route.
“I do not want to win the league without having beaten our closest rivals,” he said.
“I want to win the league and make an emphatic statement at the same time.”
The league have yet to make a decision on whether a side will still be relegated in the wake of the NCCC Academy’s withdrawal from the competition.
And for that reason, there is still plenty to play for at the foot of the table.
Horton, who are four points adrift, face fourth-place Old Northamptonians while Wollaston entertain the Academy.
Burton Latimer will attempt to extend their 25-point cushion when they host Wellingborough Town.
Elsewhere, Finedon Dolben travel to Stony Stratford and Rushton visit Brixworth.
In the second tier, the game of the day is at Milton Road where Oundle play host to Desborough who are only 22 points behind.
At the other end of the table, bottom side Old Wellingburians visit Findeon 2nd and Isham, 11 points from safety, are at home to Irthlingborough.
