Northamptonshire today announced that their former employee Graeme White will return to the club on loan.
As the first day of their LV= County Championship with Hampshire was wiped out because of the rain, they took steps to strengthen their squad.
With Con de Lange likely to miss a good chunk of the season with his Achilles injury, the signing of another spinner came to the forefront of the management.
And White, who started his career at the County Ground before moving to Nottinghamshire in 2009, was an obvious choice for head coach David Ripley.
He said: “Going to Leicester and Lancashire we’re not sure what sort of pitch to expect and it makes sense to travel with two spinners.
“We approached Notts about the possibility of taking Graeme on loan and he fits the bill for us.
“We know him well from his time here and Notts would like to see him playing some four-day cricket.”
White will be available for two County Championship but will continue to play one-day cricket for Nottinghamshire during that spell.
