County penalised for Old Trafford comments
Northamptonshire have been reprimanded by the ECB following comments made about the Old Trafford pitch for the recent County Championship fixture.
Cheif executive David Smith was highly critical of the pitch which produced a contest that was finished inside two days with the visitors suffering a seven-wicket defeat.
According to ECB disciplinary regulations, this breached Directive 4.5 concerning public statements and Smith has been forced to apologise.
The County have admitted to a breach and have been formally reprimanded and reminded of their responsibilities.
