And the 21-year-old wing couldn’t hide his delight after an encounter that provided a bonus point for six-try Saints.

“I was buzzing,” said Collins, who has scored eight tries in 26 appearances for Northampton. “It’s good, a first senior hat-trick.

“But collectively it’s a team effort and I’m just there to finish them off at the end of the day.

“We’re mixing up our game quite a lot, scoring tries from mauls, scoring tries from out wide and we can’t ask for much more.

“The forwards put a great platform down and when we’ve got the ball we’re spreading it wide and scoring.

“It’s making it difficult for other teams to defend us and we’re just enjoying the rugby.”

Collins also had some praise for fellow winger Ken Pisi.

He said: “Ken’s got that flair, hasn’t he? He’s got that little step and he’s got everything.

“Everyone put in a great performance. The forwards and backs helped spread the ball wide and it’s difficult to defend.”
