And the assistant coach was left hoping that ‘it’s not as bad it looks’ with the new Aviva Premiership season less than two weeks away.

Clark was forced off during the first half, with Teimana Harrison coming on in his place.

And Saints will hope the England man does not have to spend any time on the sidelines, with a Premiership curtain-raiser at Worcester Warriors looming on October 16.

“We’re not quite sure yet,” said Dickens, when asked about Clark’s injury after the game.

“He got a bang on the shoulder and as with all injuries he’ll be assessed over the next 24 hours.

“Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looks.”

Alex Corbisiero and James Wilson both missed the 27-23 victory at the Ricoh Arena.

And Dickens said: “They’re doing okay.

“Corbs was close to playing and we felt he might not be needed.

“He’s got another weekend before the season starts and had a couple of games already for England so he’ll be ready for the start of the season.

“I’m not sure about James Wilson, it’s one we’ll have to wait and see.”
