The pair had returned to Pennyhill Park as part of a 28-man group training ahead of the Red Rose’s battle with Samoa at Twickenham on Saturday.

But both have been omitted from the 23-man squad for the game, meaning they can play for their club in the crucial league game at Allianz Park.
