Northampton boxer Cameron ready to become a star after being handed big title shot
Chantelle Cameron believes she now has the platform to become a star after being handed a huge title shot in October.
The Northampton boxing ace, who recently signed a deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, can claim the vacant WBC belt on October 4, when she takes on Brazil's Adriana Dos Santos Araujo in a super-lightweight showdown.
Cameron is on the same bill as Joshua Buatsi, one of Britain's hottest talents, as he continues his explosive rise up the light-heavyweight rankings with a clash against undefeated Croat Marko Calic.
All of the action will be live on Sky Sports, giving Cameron the perfect chance to showcase the talents she clearly has.
"This chance I’ve been given is huge," said Cameron, who has won all 12 of her fights since turning professional.
"I’ve finally got the platform to make myself a star.
"I won’t take my opportunity for granted and will be taking every precaution to ensure I use this chance to shine.
"I want to make my dreams come true to unify and become a world champion with all of the belts, not just one.
"I really do feel I can unify a division and also become a multi-weight world champion.
"This definitely is the break I needed in boxing to show everyone around the world what I can do and how good I can be."
And Cameron would love to one day fight again in Northampton, alongside all of the talented professional boxers who hail from the town.
"Boxing in Northampton is booming," said the 29-year-old .
"It would be nice to get a show one day in Northampton with all the current boxers on the same bill."
