2,400-plus people (and dogs), 2,400-plus crazy hats, 2,400-plus reasons, a few tears, a little rain and thousands upon thousands of smiles and sounds of laughter.
Mix all these together to create something quite simple, but quite magical – a walk around Wicksteed Park on Mothers’ Day.
On behalf of Crazy Hats I would like to thank each and every one of those 2,400-plus for taking part in our 10th walk last weekend. Once again, it was a truly amazing morning.
It was a privilege to see the amount of effort people had put in to making their hats, some of which were incredibly clever, and to briefly chat with as many as I could. It made me realise how very special and how important people are in our lives – there are so many stories out there waiting, and wanting, to be told. Special thanks to the whole Crazy Hats ‘team’ of volunteers and to our many sponsors and invited guests. It was a Mothers’ Day to remember.
As sponsor money is received I will, through the Evening Telegraph, update you on the amount raised and make you aware of our next projects with the breast cancer care and oncology departments in the county.
Thank you again for helping us to make a difference; I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.”
