Wellingborough School’s brass band gave a short concert at the Castle Fields bandstand in Wellingborough on Monday (March 21).

But anyone who missed it has several more performances to enjoy in the coming months.

Wrenn Academy’s orchestra will be performing at 3.30pm on Friday, April 22, pupils from Croyland School will be singing and dancing at 4pm on Thursday, May 19, and the dance group and choir from All Saints School will be putting on a concert at 4pm on Wednesday, June 22.

Marjan Van De Horst from the Castle Fields Community Group committee said: “It would be great to get lots of people and families out to support this array of young talent from across our community, we are very excited and hope to see lots of people in the park to support our young people.”

But the concerts, which are free and about 30 minutes, are not the only events taking place in the park.

A team of volunteers went out earlier this month to take part in the Clean for the Queen event.

They helped clear up Castle Fields and it is hoped that monthly clear-ups will now take place in the future.

A new Street Watch scheme was recently launched at the park.

Anyone interested in volunteering can send an email to [email protected].

It is also hoped that more sports can be offered in the park, with a touch rugby session due to take place in April.

Marion Turner-Hawes, chairman of the Castle Fields Community Group, said: “Other adhoc events, like a community picnic, may also be arranged so keep your eyes peeled for further information.

“We look forward to hearing from you and enjoying a wonderful spring and summer of events in the park.

“And if you have any events or activities in the park you would like to let people know about, please get in touch.”
