Children will be able to watch the Northants Steelbacks for free later this summer.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced all first class counties are offering free tickets to children for Yorkshire Bank 40 Games between August 2 and August 26.
For children under the age of 16 in Northamptonshire, it means entry to the Steelbacks’ home games will be free this summer holiday when they accompany a paying adult. The Steelbacks face the Kent Spitfires on Tuesday, August 13, and the Netherlands on Thursday, August 15.
The ground-breaking ECB initiative aims to encourage more young people to watch their local county cricket team during the school holidays.
Chief Executive of ECB, David Collier, said: “We are delighted to offer this unique opportunity to young cricket fans this summer as we look to take advantage of the increased interest cricket enjoys during an Ashes summer.”
