More than 100 pupils from seven schools across the region gathered at Eyebrook reservoir in Leicestershire for the Fishing 4 Schools (F4S) open day.
The nationally successful Fishing 4 Schools programme, run by the Countryside Alliance Foundation, allows pupils of all abilities, age groups and ethnicities, a hands-on opportunity to explore coarse fishing with rod and pole, and learn about the link between the water, insects and angling, while learning aspects of the National Curriculum.
The estate manager at Eyebrook Trout Fishery, Andy Miller, was amazed at the young people’s response and said: “Eyebrook Trout Fishery was delighted to host a Fishing for Schools (F4S) event, and to see the 100-plus local schoolchildren enjoying and participating in the many fishing activities was a joy. We would especially like to thank Charles Jardine and his team of coaches for all their efforts in making this such a successful event and look forward to hosting an event again, soon. It was an incredible day.”
