A group from Rushden is celebrating after completing a 12-week Prince’s Trust course, aimed at giving unemployed people skills, motivation and experience.
The 14-strong team, all from Rushden, completed a variety of tasks over the period, including work experience, a residency, charity fundraising and helping decorate the Rushden Mind building.
Rushden mayor Marian Hollomon helped them celebrate the achievement by handing out course completion awards at a ceremony at Rushden Town Hall on Wednesday, April 10.
Terry Humphreys, 24, of Shirley Road, Rushden, said this is the third time he has completed a Prince’s Trust course since he was a carer for his dad who had terminal lung cancer.
He said: “It’s been a brilliant course, I have enjoyed it and realised I can lead. The course has given me the confidence to pursue a career in catering.”
Cllr Hollomon said: “Everyone in this group has done fantastically well and I hope they can take confidence, and skills, from the course and it will help them in the future.
“At Rushden Mind we are totally indebted to them for their help and I would like to thank them – they are lovely.”
