Young people to clean up town this week

DOZENS of young people will take part in a community clean-up of Wellingborough this week.

The town centre, market areas, Bassetts Park and Hemmingwell are among the areas to be cleaned as part of the week-long project.

The 30 young people will be litter-picking, washing street furniture, scrubbing graffiti and cleaning up streams.

In the past they have picked up sofas, bikes and trolleys.

The project is organised by Infuse Youth Cafe, which is part of the Wellingborough Youth Project.

It is supported by Wellingborough Council, Northamptonshire Voluntary Youth Action, Wellingborough Youth Council, the Scouts and the Hope Project.

At the end of the week the young people will be presented with certificates signed by the mayor.

They will also be treated to a trip to Laser Maze in the town.

The youth project is alays looking for more dedicated volunteers and funders.

The cafe provides young people with a place to relax and interact with each other.

It is a neutral environment where young people can feel safe.
