Young people support lakes

Campaigners fighting for the proposed £50m Rushden Lakes shopping and leisure development say there is huge support for the scheme from young people.

The Facebook page set up by the Yes2RushdenLakes campaigners has now topped 1,600 supporters and almost 800 people have also contacted the Planning Inspectorate to show their support.

A spokesman for the campaign group said the number of women who have shown their support for the development outnumber men by nearly two to one, and that almost 79 per cent of supporters are aged between 25 and 54.
