Christmas came early for Women’s Aid in Wellingborough in the form of a £250 boost towards its work helping vulnerable women and children across the county.
The Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire branch of the charity received the donation from Wellingborough Homes’ contractor G Purchase Construction.
The company offered to give a £250 Christmas donation to a charity of the housing provider’s choice.
The Beeswing House branch of the charity supports women and children across Wellingborough, Corby, Kettering and East Northamptonshire.
In 2013 the 14-strong team, supported by volunteers, dealt with 860 mothers and 1,142 children, manning a 24-hour helpline, refuge and other vital services for victims of domestic abuse.
The money will be used to fund video equipment for new therapy and counselling sessions.
A branch spokesman said: “We were delighted to receive this funding and it makes a real difference to the work we do to help women and children across Northamptonshire cope with domestic abuse.
“The funding will go towards equipment for a new therapeutic project we want to run with young children and their mothers.
“We work very closely with Wellingborough Homes on a number of projects and this is just another way they have supported us.
“A big thank you must go to G Purchase Construction and to Wellingborough Homes for choosing us to benefit from this donation.”
