A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car on a zebra crossing.

The 48-year-old woman was using the zebra crossing in Elizabeth Street, Corby, when, for reasons yet unknown, a silver Chevrolet Kalos failed to stop and hit her at about 5.45pm on Thursday (June 12).

The woman was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry for treatment to her injuries.
