A woman was grabbed from behind as she walked home in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 3) in Kettering by a man police believe may have been following her.

The man grabbed the 18-year-old as she walked along Northampton Road near to the bus station.

She only managed to escape when she managed to grab hold of a mobile phone, police said.

Insp Adam Ward from Northamptonshire Police said: “We are seeking any information or witnesses in relation to an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Kettering whereby a lone female was attacked on walking home.

“An 18-year-old female was walking along Northampton Road by the United Counties bus station when she was grabbed from behind and pulled into a side entrance.

“During the struggle she held onto a railing to prevent being dragged further but eventually lost her grip.

“The male continued to drag her along the road before she managed to grab hold of the phone, causing him to make off.

“It may be that the female was followed from London Road onto Bowling Green Road then into Northampton Road.”

The woman was white with long blonde hair and the man is described as having Asian-coloured skin, a thin build and having a balding head.
