Wind speeds hit 50mph across Northamptonshire as weather warning remains in place for this evening

The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning of severe gales for today across Northamptonshire this afternoon and into the evening.

Pitsford Weather Station, reporting at just before 6pm, said the maximum gust it had recorded was 41mph at 4.18pm.

@NNWeather, in his Twitter feed, reported that Turweston Aerodrome had recorded a wind gust of 54mph earlier today.

He said wind speeds were due to gust at 50-60mph later on this evening, perhaps even reaching 70mph.
