Work has begun to create a new M&S food hall in Corby.
The project is under way at the former Poundland store at the Peel Centre in Phoenix Parkway.
It was originally due to open in August but bosses at the iconic British retailer have had to wait for planning permissions to start the work.
They now say an announcement on an opening date is imminent.
A statement from the firm said: “We’re excited to welcome customers in the Corby area to our new food hall very soon. We’ll provide more details in the coming weeks.”
The company first revealed its intention to open in Corby after adverts appeared in May advertising for staff for the new shop.
It is seen as a huge coup for the town, and locals hope that it means M&S would also consider opening a clothes store in the town, should the food hall be a success.
The opening of the new store will create 50 jobs and there is hope that the store will be completed before Christmas.
