A number of workers from Screwfix stores including Wellingborough’s have teamed up to take part in a charity football match.
Screwfix employees will hold the event at 3pm on Saturday, May 2, at Friar Lane & Epworth Football Club in Leicester.
The match, in aid of The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects that fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need, will feature a penalty shoot-out and the club bar will be open for those who simply want to watch. T
Staff from stores in Leicester, Tamworth, Bedford and Loughborough will also be taking part.
Customer service supervisor of the Screwfix store in Leicester and match organiser Adam Taylor said: “Everyone is really looking forward to the day; we have been planning the event so that it appeals to the sportsmen and women who will be competing for the thrill of winning!
“We’re hoping it will be an enjoyable day for everyone involved and it will be a great way of raising vital funds for the charity.”
The Screwfix Foundation launched in 2013 and donates much-needed funding to help a variety of projects, from repairing buildings and improving facilities in deprived areas, to decorating the homes of people living with sickness or disability.
It works with two national charity partners, Barnardo’s children’s charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as lending a welcome helping hand to smaller, local registered charities behind projects which involve fixing, maintaining or repairing buildings or facilities for those in need.
Trustee of The Screwfix Foundation John Mewett said: “The Screwfix Foundation relies on the money raised by fundraising events across the country in and around our Screwfix stores.
“We’re delighted that colleagues and customers in our Leicester store are getting behind the charity and doing this fantastic community event to raise money which we will then donate to our well deserving national and local charity partners.”
