A woman has helped raise more than £1,100 for the charity which supported her and her husband after they lost their baby.

Lianne and Alan Johnson had not heard of Children Are Butterflies before, but the Northampton-based charity was there when they needed them after losing baby Elliott in February this year.

The charity provided financial support for Elliott’s funeral and this led to Lianne wanting to support the charity and help others who find themselves in the same heartbreaking situation as they did.

After discussing the idea with her Zumba instructor Mark Bailey, Lianne organised a sponsored Zumbathon at the Pemberton Centre in Rushden from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday, September 26.

Lianne said before the event that she ‘wanted to do something to make Elliott proud.’

The event raised £1,140 and this will go to the charity which provides support to families who have lost a child of any age.

They can offer practical and financial support when arranging a funeral and emotional support through a network of parents and families who have suffered similar losses.

While the Zumbathon took place, there was also a tombola, cake stall and raffle to raise further funds.

Lianne from Wellingborough said: “We are still waiting for a few more people to pay in their sponsor money but at present we have raised £1,140.”
