Wellingborough will be transformed into a winter wonderland this Christmas.
A giant snow globe, Santa parade, live reindeer and fireworks display will help transform Wellingborough for the Christmas season.
The festive lights will be switched on during the afternoon of Saturday, November 29, with Beyonce, Jessie J and Take That tribute acts performing live on a specially built stage in Orient Place.
Shoppers will be able to meet and greet Santa and his reindeer at 1.30pm at Sheep Street.
The festivities are being held to officially kick-off Christmas and the festive season in the town.
The event is being organised by the Wellingborough Business Improvement District (BID), which is paid for by businesses, through its Discover Wellingborough campaign, which stages events and activities aimed at encouraging people into the town centre.
BID manager John Cable said: “We’ve got an action-packed event planned for the Christmas lights switch-on, which promises to be bigger and better than ever this year – and everyone is invited.
“Wellingborough town centre will be turned into a festive-themed, hustling, bustling winter wonderland.
“We have a town centre to be proud of and this Christmas we’re giving people a great reason to shop in Wellingborough.
“So, visit your town centre and come and enjoy the festivities.”
A prize giveaway will also be carried out via smartphones, giving all those attending the switch-on the chance to go home with an early Christmas present.
