Wellingborough pensioner knocked to the ground and robbed in her home

A 77-year-old woman was robbed in her own home by a man who left her bruised and frightened.

The victim was at home in Knox Road, Wellingborough, on Monday afternoon when a man knocked at the door at 2.45pm and asked for directions.

He then asked for a bandage for a bad leg.

He was refused entry to the house but pushed his way inside, knocking the victim on to the stairs.

The man then stole her handbag which contained a number of sentimental items as well as money which had been saved to pay for Christmas presents.

The victim was left bruised and very shaken by the incident.

The offender was white, in his early 20s, 6ft, with a local acccent and wore a hat that was pulled down to his eyes and a scarf pulled over his nose.

He was wearing a dark jacket and white trainers.
