The Castle Fields Community Group (CFCG) in Wellingborough is no stranger to clean-ups after arranging events in the past, and it is now looking forward to being part of the Clean for The Queen event.

Communities across the country are signing up to the event in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday and Marion Turner-Hawes, chairman of CFCG, hopes people in Wellingborough will join in to make a difference where they live.

She said members of the community group were keen to take part, and added: “I think this is a great idea, the town could definitely do with a good spruce up.

“It would be great if, between now and the Queen’s birthday, lots of areas of the town can be cleared, particularly the many areas with piles of abandoned rubbish around the town.”

The clean-up weekend is due to take place from March 4 to March 6.

Marion said she is hoping for as many groups as possible to get involved, and added: “It would be great at the end of it if we have managed to clear some challenging areas and made our town feel and look much better.”
