A food store in Wellingborough is celebrating National Vegetarian Week with a series of activities.
National Vegetarian Week runs from May 18 to 24 and Hornett Wholefoods in Midland Road, Wellingborough, is playing its part.
There will be a children’s day on Tuesday, May 19, with healthy snacks and drinks and crafts to emphasise how important fruit and vegetables are in the diet.
This will be reinforced by having the main sponsor of the week, Nothing But Snacks, visit the shop between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
Their mascot Straw Barry will also be visiting to encourage children to think about healthy food.
Other events taking place at the store will include the launch of a free book-sharing scheme in the shop on the Wednesday, a free meat-free barbecue outside the shop from midday to 3pm on Saturday, May 23, with food supplied by Corby company VBites and Northants Veggies.
And on Sunday, May 24, there is a barbecue picnic at Irchester Country Park from midday to 3pm at which Hornett Wholefoods will be providing some food – weather permitting!
Call 07419 373596 if it rains to find out where it will take place.
Hornett Wholefoods is owned and run by husband and wife team Emma and Jonathan Hornett, long-time vegetarians with a strong interest in eating healthily and ethically.
