Our local weather forecaster @NNweather said this morning: "Snow showers today giving accumulations in places whilst some areas in the county will miss most of the snow.

"Temps not rising above freezing but feeling like -7°C in a bitter northeasterly wind gusting around 30mph."

It is forecast that daily accumulations of between 2-5cm will fall in places and temperatures will sit at around -1C all day.

The Safer Roads Team are warning people to take care on the roads.

@northants_SRT tweeted: "Most of the county experienced a light dusting of snow during the night and with more currently falling it makes for less than ideal driving conditions. If you have to head out on an essential journey then drive safe, slow and to the conditions you are faced with. #SlowDown"
