Warning after spate of shed break-ins in Higham Ferrers


People are being urged to be vigilant following a spate of shed break-ins in Higham Ferrers.

There have been nine break-ins at sheds and garages in the town in the space of two nights.

Tools and gardening equipment has been taken from a number of the properties, although a number were just broken into overnight on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Sector inspector for East Northamptonshire Julie Mead is urging people to be vigilant, keep an eye out for anyone acting suspiciously in the area and to ensure their sheds and garages are secure.

She said: “We are looking for witnesses after a series of shed break-ins in the Higham Ferrers area.

“Tools have been taken from some and others have just been broken into, but it can be un-nerving to have someone break into your shed.”

Following the series of break-ins, officers have been out in Higham Ferrers carrying out high visibility patrols and offering reassurance to residents.

They have been contacting people living near to where the break-ins took place to make them aware of the recent spate and offer crime prevention advice.
