People are being urged not to share their bank details with anyone over the phone following a spate of suspicious calls.
Five reports have been received in the county this afternoon where members of the public have been called by someone purporting to be a police officer.
The fraudster then tells them a fictitious story about the police having someone in custody who has been using their bank details.
The caller asks the person to confirm their bank details so they can check if any transactions have been made on their account.
Anyone who receives one of these calls is being urged not to give out their details and ask for the caller’s name and number.
If you receive a call of this nature, contact Action Fraud via http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/contact-us.
