Warning after reports of cold callers operating in East Northants

East Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service have been made aware that rogue doorstep criminals are cold calling, offering to carry out property and roofing repairs, and may have breached Trading Standards criminal legislation.

Anyone who is concerned about a caller at their door or suspects that rogue doorstep traders or distraction burglars are operating in the area can contact the dedicated Doorstep Crime Action Network (DAN) by calling 0345 2307702.

But if you believe a crime is in progress, people should call 999.

The advice of Trading Standards and the police is not to buy goods or services from a cold caller on your doorstep.

Anyone having work carried out around the home or garden can check the details of the trader by using Trading Standards’ approved trader scheme – Buy With Confidence.
